During this lockdown most of the “undergraduate to be” have been thinking what to do in the current situation. With all this time already in their hand and nothing productive to do, doesn’t mean they can’t have many opportunities to make good use of their time. Most of us already know that doing internships and projects makes our curriculum vitae (CV) stand out. Hence, considering to take up an online internship won’t be such a bad idea after all.
A student should keep learning and growing his/her knowledge and experience in every wake of life, by valuing and utilize the time and being more productive in whatever field they choose to be. Taking up an internship is all time advisable since it contributes to our personal growth in more than one way. They can utilize the time by doing something that not only adds value to your resume but also boosts up your experience, and in the process could even facilitate learning and personal growth.
We get to learn many new things and the internships and projects also help us to hone our skills in that particular field. But given the current situation, the most important question that comes to our mind is,” Should students opt for an internship during a lockdown ?”. Well, we already know that an internship, at any time, is always a good option to consider. But how can one do an internship during a lockdown? And is it worth it?
1) Something better than nothing
Lockdown has made people miserable and some smart people have already started putting their knowledge and efforts to good use, instead of just fooling around and moving further astray from your career.
2) Internship at Home
This is probably the only opportunity you will get in your lifetime to do an “online internship” from the comfort of your own home. Plus there is only so much one can binge-watch all day (Sad! But yes, it’s about time for all of us to realize that).
3) Times are changing and so is the workforce
The global pandemic has taught a lot to individuals and industries as well. Workforces are changing around the world, everyone is adapting to the current situation to the best of their abilities. Every company is facing its own set of challenges and all of them have their own unique set of opportunities to offer for new applicants or interns.
4) Redefine “ME TIME”
Earlier when we were busy with…. *God knows what*, we would need to take off some “me time” to take a break for ourselves. Now we need a break from our break, and what could be better than an online internship. An online internship will not only help us keep us busy, but will also greatly contribute to building confidence.
5) Your lockdown internship may just lead you to a full-time job
Every company appreciates good work and due diligence. Given that you do choose a perfect internship with respect to your skillset and interest, or maybe if you just outdo yourself, the company just might retain you as a full-time employee.
Even though these internships are held online we don’t get experience with the office culture. But if we focus on the upside it could really help us learn a lot of things, especially how companies are dealing with the difficulties in operation during the current situation. Plus we even get to about the different problem-solving approaches.
The internet has a lot to offer. One can learn a lot of interesting subject topics and start exploring in their field of interest.
